Guardrails are not blockers
Teams move faster when baseline standards are codified. Guardrails reduce repeated design debates and prevent avoidable outages.
Minimum baseline
- Namespace-level policy and quota defaults.
- Golden deployment templates and security checks.
- Centralized observability with service ownership metadata.
Platform team role
Provide paved roads, not strict lanes. The goal is consistency with escape hatches for justified exceptions.
